Elisabeth no longer wants to sponge off her father. She no longer wants to sleep on the living room couch. She no longer wants to have to listen to her step-mother’s reproaches. Elisabeth has a plan: she is going to make a living as a sales rep for bras, girdles and other sundry. But competition is stiff in this time of economic crisis. And it’s illegal to work without official papers. No problem. In order to pay for the registration, she has a plan: she is going to sell her body to the Anatomy Institute. And since she is young the Institute is going to have to wait some time. But sometimes fate plays strange tricks on you. And in so doing, Horvath will have shown us how an entire society functions – or rather how it spins out of control… For his fourth go at directing his beloved playwright, Christoph Marthaler has chosen his favorite play of all.
créé au Wiener Festwochen le 13 juin 2012.
à lire Foi, Amour, Espérance d'Odön von Horvath, in Théâtre complet 4, traduit par Henri Christophe, L'Arche, 1996.
